We all know that our sleep affects our mood, our motivation and our concentration. Being tired is one of the most common and annoying feelings for anyone. With the clocks going back on Sunday 27th of October 2024 it will most likely be dark when you wake up and probably be getting dark before you arrive home from work.
It’s much harder to wake up when it’s dark in the morning so here are a few tips we have for when the clocks go back.
- Don’t snooze that alarm! It will make it much harder to wake up the second time. (especially in the dark)
- Try turning on the light once you wake up & open the curtains. It alerts the body that it’s time to wake up and start the day.
- Get some fresh air during the day! With chillier, darker mornings, it’s second nature to want to stay indoors in the warmth however getting out in the sunlight is one of the best things that you can do to counteract that tired feeling after the clock change. 30 minutes outside refreshes us, especially during those winter months!
- Try to go to sleep and wake up at the same time every day for a week! This helps your body get into a routine.
- Try and avoid phones at least 30 minutes before you want to go to sleep, this is so you aren’t lying awake making it harder for you to wake up the following morning!
