Firm mattresses are designed to keep the body in a relatively flat position, which can help keep the spine aligned and prevent it from sinking into the mattress. A firm mattress is rated a ‘4’ on our scale of firmness, with 1 being softest and 5 being the firmest.

Is a firm mattress better for back pain?

Firm mattresses are often recommended for people who have back pain, as they can provide a supportive surface that keeps the spine in a neutral position.

Are firm mattresses good for side sleepers?

Firm mattresses are generally not recommended for side sleepers. We would recommend a medium or medium firm mattress for side sleepers.
