A double mattress measures 4 feet 6 inches wide (135cm) and 6 feet 3 inches long (190cm). They are designed to sleep two people comfortably, but can also be used by individuals who are looking to stretch out a bit more in bed. Our double mattresses come in a variety of different depths and weights depending on the type of mattress you choose.
The length and width of a double mattress is consistent across all brands / types of double mattress, however the depth of the mattress may differ. It is also possible to purchase a small double mattress which is slightly narrower as 4ft wide compared to a double mattress being 4ft 6 wide.
While a double mattress will fit on a small double bed frame or divan, the mattress will stick out by 3 inches each side of the frame as a double mattress is 6 inches wider than a small double mattress / bed. For the ultimate comfort, it is recommended that you use the correct bed size with your chosen mattress.
The number of pocket springs used in a pocket sprung double mattress will vary depending on the brand, quality and design of the mattress, however it is recommended that double mattresses have a bare minimum of 600 pocket springs.
